Best Hand I got in AC - Chris

I am sitting in the stud room at the Trop playing 1/5 in the wee hours against Atlantic City's night time pros. The only other person that wasn't a regular was an older man raising all the time on crap - he lost a couple hundred dollars, but I wasn't getting any good hands. I was having trouble holding my own, so I started playing tighter than I ever had before. I was determined to win my money back when I look at my hole cards - two tens. These were the best pocket pair I had gotten in a long time. My door card comes and it is another ten. I call the bring in for a dollar in order to hopefully get the old man to raise me. He folds, and the guy on my right raises a couple of bucks and I call as well as the bring in. I get ANOTHER TEN.

I have four of a kind in my first four cards. It doesn't get much better than that. Now most people would slow play this hand, and I was very scared that to bet. On the other hand, as Mike Caro has said - in situations like these - you will make more money by doing what people expect. I tried to think of the optimum bet and felt $2.00 was it. So I bring in with my "pair" for two dollars. The bring in calls and the guy to my right raises me $5.00. Of course I am happy as hell as he appears to be getting good high cards for a flush. I call his raise, the bring in folds, and I get a queen on fifth street. I bet $5.00 and he raises me with what now looks like a good hand. Then I get the kiss of death - another queen. I have two pair showing on the board. I have had four of a kind in AC before, but it was never with two pair showing on the board! He shut down and I got 2 more red chips out of him before the end.
